General Club Information

What is Maple Leaf Cavan FC?

Maple Leaf Cavan FC is a not-for-profit youth soccer club serving the Cavan-Monaghan and greater Peterborough area, offering programs for players of all ages and skill levels—from introductory programs to competitive soccer.

Where are games and practices held?

Most programs take place at Maple Leaf Park, Crestwood Secondary School, and surrounding fields in the Cavan-Monaghan/Peterborough area. Specific field locations are shared prior to the start of each season.

How do I register my child?

All registrations are completed online through our registration platform. Links are available on the top right corner of this page and shared through our social media channels when registration opens.

Programs & Pathways

What programs do you offer?

We offer a full development pathway including:

  • U3 Parent & Tot Program
  • Future Stars (ages 3–8)
  • House League (recreational)
  • Grassroots Development
  • Performance Institute
  • Competitive (Rep/iModel)
  • Seasonal camps (Summer, March Break, etc.)

What is the difference between House League and Development/Rep programs?

  • House League focuses on fun, participation, and basic skill development.
  • Rep (Competitive) is for players selected through tryouts and involves travel and higher commitment.
  • Development/Performance programs focus on improving technical ability and preparing players for higher levels.


How do players move into more competitive programs?

Players can be identified through House League, Development programs, or attend scheduled tryouts. Our coaching staff helps guide players along the appropriate pathway.

Scheduling & Season Details

When does the soccer season run?

  • Outdoor season: Typically May to August
  • Indoor programs: Fall and Winter sessions
  • Camps & specialty programs: Offered throughout the year


How often are rep games and practices?

2-3 practices weekly sessions plus one game typically

What happens if it rains?

Soccer is played in rain. Cancellations due to severe weather or unsafe field conditions will be communicated via email and/or social media.

Equipment & Uniforms

What equipment does my child need?


All players require:

  • Soccer cleats or running shoes (cleats recommended, especially for older age groups)
  • Shin guards (mandatory)
  • Water bottle
  • Uniform details vary by program and are provided at registration.

Are uniforms included in registration?

House League uniforms are typically included. Competitive and development programs typically include the uniforms but may require additional uniform purchases.

Coaching & Volunteers

Who coaches the teams?

Our programs are led by a combination of:

  • Volunteer parent coaches
  • Trained Game Leaders
  • Club Technical Trainers (for development programs)


Can I volunteer as a coach?

Yes! We are always looking for volunteers. Training and support are provided, and a valid police check is required.

How will I receive updates?

Communication is shared through:

  • Social media (especially Facebook and Instagram)
  • Email (primary method)
  • Website updates

Camps & Additional Training

Do you offer summer camps?


Yes! We offer both:

  • Multi-sport camps
  • High-performance soccer camps


These camps focus on skill development, fun, and keeping players active throughout the summer.

What is the Performance Institute?

The Performance Institute is designed for players looking to take their game to the next level, with structured training led by our technical staff.

Policies & Safety

Are players insured?

Yes, all registered players are covered under Ontario Soccer insurance.

Do you have policies for safety and conduct?

Yes, our club follows Ontario Soccer guidelines and maintains policies related to:

  • Respect in Sport
  • Concussions
  • Harassment and safety
  • Volunteer screening

Financial Assistance

Do you offer financial support?

We strive to keep soccer affordable and may offer support through programs or payment plans. We also encourage families to explore external funding programs such as Jumpstart, or reach out to the club President for a confidential conversation directly at president@cavanfc.com .
